Lothian took a strong team of 8 swimmers to represent the region at the SDS National Junior Swimming Championships for those with a Physical Disability or Sensory Impairment on Wednesday 7th November 2018.
Each swimmer came away with at least one medal on the day, highlighting the talent currently within the region and this success is a testament to the great work of our local clubs who are supporting the swimmers each week during training sessions.
Many of the team had tasted success at this event before and this trend continued with multiple medals being added to the collection of the following swimmers: Neil Ferguson (Lothian Racers/Musselburgh Marlins), Sam Downie (Lothian Racers/Musselburgh Marlins/ELST), Kate Bolan, Merryn Binnie, Corey McDowell and Aaron McDowell (all Livingston & District Dolphins).
This year, the team also included 2 swimmers experiencing this event for the first time and both performed extremely well. Rosa Dunbar-Jones (Lothian Racers) achieved a bronze medal in the 50m Breastroke whilst Ollie Hewitt (Lothian Racers) won 2 golds and set a huge 13 second PB in the 50m freestyle.
Well done to everyone!
