Edinburgh-based charity ECAS, which supports people with physical disabilities and runs classes for physically disabled adults living in Edinburgh and the Lothians, is celebrating after being given £3,000 by Tesco Charity Trust to help towards the cost of its swimming classes.
ECAS runs swimming classes twice weekly, which are tailored specifically for physically disabled adults living in the Edinburgh area, and led by a trained tutor. The donation from Tesco will support ECAS in running the classes.
David Griffiths, Chief Executive of ECAS, said: “We would like to thank Tesco Charity Trust for its kind donation to our swimming classes. This will enable us to continue to provide a swimming course for physically disabled people in the area.
“Swimming is beneficial exercise for all and to have specialist classes for those with disabilities is an added bonus for our patrons.”
The classes take place in the Thistle Foundation, off Niddrie Mains Road on a Thursday from 2.30pm to 4.30pm and 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
ECAS also run classes throughout the year in art, craft, computing and yoga. Classes cost £4 each and are fully accessible for those with a physical disability. A free internet café is also available.
ECAS provides return transport for those who need it and class fees are not charged for clients who meet certain criteria.
